JOSHUA F. BOWERS LAWYER OF THE YEAR
On April 18, 2002, the Metropolitan Washington Employment Lawyers Association announced that Joshua F. Bowers was selected as Lawyer of the Year.

On April 9, 2002, the City Council of the District of Columbia unanimously passed the D.C. Civil Rights Tax Fairness Act. The Civil Rights Tax Fairness Act repeals the tax of up to 9% on emotional distress compensatory damages in discrimination cases and provides for income averaging of back pay compensation. The passage of the D.C. Civil Rights Tax Fairness Act is part of a national campaign to repeal an identical Federal tax on compensation in discrimination cases.
